Bobby's visiting again. I gave him some milk, no doubt ensuring further visits - at least until I move, anyway. cat pic )

If I'm reading this correctly, the cooperative bug isolation project[1] is essentially distributing Quantifty'd code to willing users and asking them to mail back the results. Could be good, if they can get their audience.

[1] "CBIP". It's obviously an all-geek, no-marketing effort.

...the Strunk and White (or equivalent) guide to smiley usage. For example, should one treat a smiley as a termination of a sentence that replaces a full stop, or should one include the full stop in the sentence?

I blame the tea I'm drinking. It's not my regular type.

I guess there's a certain impetus when posting a comment to Die Puny Humans to try and be all weird and fucked up, but even still some of the quotes on Warren's last "busking" post this week are absolutely priceless. Like this one:
Please send help! And by "help" I mean small arms and Greg Palast.

And kevlar. Lots of kevlar.

more house

Ok, I've had a look around the area the prospective new house is in. No obvious "for let" signs, so I wasn't able to identify the exact house, but the potentials look reasonable. The houses look old enough to have been built with solid walls as opposed to whatever excuse for inter-house partitioning they use in a lot of places these days. There are no obvious boy-racer or banger cars, so that's good; plenty parking space; reasonably well connected in terms of routes to work and elsewhere. The front doors in the area are a bit ratty, but if I care enough about that I'm sure a dousing with paint would fix it. The advert says there's a patio and a rear garden, which means somewhere to leave the bike. Gas fire in the main room - yay! I love gas fires; all the benefits of an open fire with none of the hassle of a turf, coal or wood fire. Electric shower, which I've not had in any accomodation since, hmm. College. The only slight glitch is that the bedrooms are singles, and I've got a double futon. I may have to abandon it, or store it until further notice, depending on the dimensions of the rooms.

Ok, I'm already talking like I'm gonna move in. I still need to look the place over.

I've packed three sizeable boxes so far.

All with books.

And the shelves still aren't empty.

Vodafone are running an advertising campaign at the moment with the tagline "now is good", i.e. pick up your (voda)phone and call someone NOW. Every time I see one of the adverts I get the urge to comply.

damned psychic choonz, too.

All DVDs, videos, and CDs now packed, plus both bookshelves more-or-less cleared. Five boxes and most of a sixth. The boxes are 25"x16"x11", or nearest metric equivalent, if you're interested. I have two more boxes to fill before I run out of boxes (Pete's promised to supply me a bunch more as needed) at which point I may well run screaming from the house and drink beer in the comfort and safety of the Kings.
