"Better still, Postbank offers you the security of a banking service backed by An Post and Fortis, one of Europe's largest banking institutions."

Mhmm. Yes. Security.

The governments of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg have intervened with a €1.2bn bailout of one of Europe's biggest banking and insurance companies Fortis. (link)

Bertie Ahern, our Glorious Leader, has directed ComReg to introduce competition on line rentals by March. Yay, sort of.

update: whoops, wrong Ahern. I was wondering why Bertie'd be talking about telecomms.

The Irish Department of Health has a domain name that's either cool or extremely bad marketting. Some might say apt marketting, mind you.

Well, they're already pledging to ban cigarettes in pubs next year, now they want to stop drinking, too: by cutting back on the adverts.

I think it's missing the point, somewhat. People go to the pub to socialise, and there's not a lot to do in a pub while you're socialising aside from drinking. So even if it's not advertised any more, people will still be drinking. And people who binge-drink will still binge-drink. What they really need to do is kill off our pub culture, yay!

Silly people. The Irish drinking habit is the only thing that's stopped us from taking over the world.
