Turns out that one of the more fun food shows on Irish TV is filmed across the road from my local (last FAQ item)

We could lead the world in developing a modern, industrialized, open food system with down-to-earth family farm values.
Uh, Don. Never mind that we've had DNA tracking here in the colonies for several years now. How about the fact that you've said in your own article that Japan not only has the DNA tracking, but a customer-oriented lookup system as well? How are you going to lead that, exactly?

So I'm kinda half-watching Son of Sam at the moment, and right now there's four guys, stereotypical New York Italians, in a diner kinda joint, and they're having pizza. And these built guys are having one large slice of pizza each. Jeez. Makes me feel something of a glutton, having an entire 9" pizza to myself.

I made home-made burgers this evening. The supermarket where I did my grocery shopping was selling 800g of mince at half price, so I bought it before realising that 800g is, like, way too much mince. Undeterred, I made 4 200g burgers (that's like a quarter-pounder, only bigger), put three in the freezer, and cooked the fourth with fries and baked beans.
Good things about a huge burger:
  • MEAT!
  • Not feeling hungry after finishing it

Bad things about a huge burger:
  • slightly overcooking everything else while making sure the burger was cooked through
  • kinda obscures the seasoning items by its immense bulk
  • boy, I'm FULL

On the whole, though, a pleasant meal. I might fast for a day before I try another, though.

We had the Chicken of Dubious Provenance at lunchtime today. I guess I get to find out if my toxin-resistant stomach (developed in college) is still capable of defeating wee beasties.
