Although I am a somewhat seasoned Guinness drinker, I still occasionally find myself astounded by the chasm-like gap between a good pint and a bad pint. Hell, even between a good pint and a not quite as good pint. I am somewhat curséd in this respect, since my local serves only the former, and the nearest watering hole to the office serves at best the latter.

Is it just me, or is del.icio.us more flaky since it was bought by Yahoo?

It appears that I have finally lost the Santa hat that I bought (or otherwise acquired; I honestly can't remember how I came by it) years and years ago. For the past few years, it's always mysteriously turned up in time for me to wear it at least once over Christmas, but I have a vague suspicion that somewhere in the middle of last year's events it was stolen off my head in a crowded bar. Or, I dunno, maybe the elves took it.

Back when I had a 16k Sinclair Spectrum, the height of public networking per the adverts in Your Spectrum and the like was Micronet 800 and/or Prestel - I can't quite recall which one the advert I'm thinking of was for, and it's sort of moot as Micronet was part of Prestel. Anyway. The advert featured a trendy young dude using his online connection to check out cinema listings, his bank balance, and a bus timetable in order to plan his evening. This is suddenly brought to mind by my own favourite telco, Eircom, suggesting that you buy their broadband offering to view bus timetables.
