In order to delete your tribe.net account, you have to send an email with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject line to registration@tribe.net from whatever email address you signed up with. Seems to me that this is more open to abuse than a simple "PLEASE DELETE MY ACCOUNT" button on the website.

You know, if costing the movie industry squillions of dollars is such a "serious crime", why not arrest people like Kevin Costner for crimes such as Waterworld?

eircom, predictably, didn't get back to me within 48 hours. So I pinged ComReg and mentioned this fact before I left the office yesterday evening. Just before noon I received a phonecall from possibly the most apologetic eircom employee I've ever encountered, giving me the following explanations:
  • My paperwork has only been issued twice.
  • Both times it "failed to print"
  • This is, I am led to believe, an uncommon problem.
  • Paperwork, once printed, is only sent out on Thursdays, so it'll be more than a week before I see proof that this third issue of my paperwork has actually been effective.
  • The collections department has been alerted not to disconnect my account.
  • I am being refunded a token amount (roughly one month's line rental) as a gesture of goodwill.
  • The reason for my complaint being unattended was that the guy who initially was handling the complaint has been out of the office for a few days.
I think that about covers what we discussed. I told ComReg to keep the complaint open until I've actually gotten the paperwork sorted, just to be on the safe side.

So I'm not a comic book fan nor have I ever seen any episodes of The Green Hornet, but what really blows me away about the fact that the project's just been given to Kevin Smith is his telling of the story, in which he tries to turn it down and Harvey Weinsten refuses him that luxury. I've heard similar about Harvey W. telling Peter Jackson that he couldn't not do a trilogy when Jackson was trying to pitch a two-movie version of LotR. Sounds like a cool guy to work for, at least from the perspective of those two stories...
