Partying was fun, and too many stories, but the quote that stuck in my head (my own, natch) was "He'd better hurry up. We're nearly out of December, and we're all out of 2006."

The tally, as I remember it: one mod (girl), one absolutely mackin' pimp, one injured superhero, one Philip Marlowe/Sam Spade (he wasn't picky), one Death/Emperor Palpatine (original idea abandoned in favour of not wearing a mask), one dark angel of some sort (all in black rather than white, basically), one schoolgirl, one priest (with PERV written on his collar, a nice touch), one kurdish tribesman, one Chuck Norris, one bloodstained doctor, one female vampire (I think), and two zombies (one of which was me). Oh yeah, and someone showed up as a very convincing "crazy neighbour who complains about the loud music". They didn't stay long, though.

My camera did not make me happy: aside from the fact that I took a few pictures from too far away for the flash to have an effect (yes, my fault, I know) it did its thing where it refuses to switch on and even the usual trick of popping out the batteries momentarily didn't fix it, so I ended up with 8 photos. At least there's one of me as Zombie #1.

...the invite itself made me giggle somewhat; here's an excerpt:
I've got feck all email addresses for people so if someone could pass this onto, well anyone you feel like really, it'd be appreciated. Namely redacted, redacted, redacted, redacted, Ronan, redacted, redacted, redacted, redacted, redacted, Mammon, Mephisto, Faust, Nergal and of course after last years crazies we must have Khorne back.
I guess I better leave my soul at home - wouldn't want to put it down somewhere at the party and discover it's been taken.

So last night's party had the sort of small-world connections you get used to after a few years in the IT industry in Dublin (or possibly in Ireland). The bits I've managed to keep straight in my head:
  • I worked with both Louise and Kevin, and was instrumental in their hiring to the jobs where I worked with them.
  • Louise and Kevin both worked in Gateway with Peter
  • The party was being hosted by Louise's friend Alan. Alan works with Gavin, whose boss, Dave, is one of the dspsrv admins, as I am.
  • Gavin knows two more Daves - he used work with them - both of whom now work in the same office as me.
  • Gavin also knows Richard, who sits next to me in said office.
  • Lisa worked for the same company as Gavin and Alan, and possibly with any one of a number of my current coworkers, but I didn't get around to asking her.
  • Said company bought a company I worked part-time for back in 1996.
There were more people there, and mostly IT folk from what I could gather, and had I talked to more I'm sure I'd have found more connections. In fact, I'm sure I'd have figured out how Katie (a trainee solicitor) was somehow intricately connected with some random job or company in my past, despite the fact that she was the only person I talked to who I know definitely isn't an IT person.
