I much preferred logjam when it used XML files for the local backup, despite my hatred of XML, because it meant I could quickly find an old post using grep. Now it's using SQLite, which means I need to bang my head against the desk until the post I'm looking for falls out. Gah.

Been listening to The Killers' Mr. Brightside (an awesome pop track: the lyrics are cheap and cheerful, but the balance of the song is just perfect) on single-track repeat a lot lately, but just now I tried to cue it up a couple of times on Gronk only to (re)discover that [livejournal.com profile] jwz's code doesn't allow you to cue the same track up multiple times in case, you know, you're drunk and mishit the interface or the RIAA are watching you or something.

Listening to the music repeatedly it's pretty obvious that the major musicians in the band are the drummer and the bass player; it turns out (according to All Music Guide) that the drummer's actually classically trained. For the first band I was in, having a classically trained drummer meant we couldn't persuade the guy to improvise - if it wasn't on sheet music he couldn't play it, even though everyone else in the band could. Ah, the memories.

Since I did this with the last stuck-in-my-head song:

Comin' out of my cage
And I been doin' just fine
Gotta gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this?
It was only a kiss
It was only a kiss
Now I'm falling asleep
And she's calling a cab
While he's havin' a smoke
And she's takin' a drag
Now they're going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it's all in my head
But she's touching his chest now
He takes off her dress now
Letting me go
Cos I just can't look
It's killing me
And taking control

Jealousy
Turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullabies
Choking on your alibis
But it's just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
Cos I'm Mister Brightside

[repeat all of above, because it's not about the lyrics, it's about the music]

I never
I never
I never
I never
Like I said, throwaway lyrics. I'm not even sure what the chorus is doing. But damn it's a killer (hah!) pop song.

o/`...how did it end up like this? It was only a kiss...o/`
