Superchick. It is available for international delivery, and it is cheap, cheap, cheap. It is one of the best Dublin-set books I've read, capturing the atmosphere remarkably well given that the guy who wrote it was, to the best of my knowledge, in either Japan or Australia when he did actually write it. Occasional roman a clefs include the fact that certain aspects of the main character's band come from an Irish band in the Tokyo scene tastefully titled "Yer Mot's A Dog", which is a dublinese phrase that roughly translates as "your significant other isn't exactly pretty". The book is a laugh riot from start to finish and you are totally clicking on the link and buying it already. Note, I get nothing out of this flagrant promotion other than knowing that you are buying a good book and supporting a small-time author.

Have you clicked the link yet?

Three books from the "Feckin'" series:
  • The Book of Deadly Irish Quotations some smart fecker in the pub is always blatherin' on about
  • The Feckin' Book of Irish Sex and Love that's not fit for dacent people's eyes
  • The Book of Irish Songs yer oulfella always sung when he was jarred at a hooley
For you foreign folk: "yer oulfella" is your dad, "jarred" is drunk, and "a hooley" loosely (very loosely) translates as a party. "Feck", obviously, is the universal non-swearing swearword as used by priests, mothers, politicians in public, etc.
