Table Quiz.
We led from round three, possibly earlier.
In round five or six, I said that SONAR stands for Sound Navigation And Ranging. The "correct" answer was "...And RADAR". The organisers, questioned on this, said, quote, people were taking it too seriously (at €40 per table I think we were entitled to do so) and besides their answerbook said RADAR and RADAR it was.
Predictably, the quiz went to a tiebreak which we lost.
I have since discovered we were further gypped on the composition of brass; knowing that bronze was copper and tin, I (largely) guessed copper and zinc for brass. The "correct" answer was copper and tin. Brass is indeed made of copper and zinc. Ha ha of course note that "some types of brass are called bronzes" (copper and tin and zinc, although always taught to me without the zinc) and therefore your quizmaster is still an idiot.
