president shot in Ireland
Jun. 28th, 2004 10:17 am...by a photographer, that is. I haven't seen any mentions of it in my RSS feeds, but since I've not been checking it over the weekend, it could have slipped off. All the tabloids yesterday morning had the same shot of El Shrubbo standing in his room in Dromoland Castle wearing a vest; the shot was obviously taken from outside. Much furore over "the photo they didn't want you to see" and the fact that a photographer was able to get into the sort of position that'd be really useful for, say, a sniper.
In other photos this weekend, the picture of the €7m* traffic jam I posted wasn't the best; there was a fantastic picture of "Bertie [Ahern] and Bush" walking somewhere or other, both in perfect step, and both appearing to be goosestepping at that. You could almost hear "Deutschland Über Alles" in the background.
* 14 Swiss-made Mowag APCs, each of which cost us €500,000. I have no idea what we're doing with them all when we don't have Texans running around Limerick for 18 hours.

here's your "sovereignty"...
Jun. 28th, 2004 10:31 am[link]...but it'll cost ya. Also, don't forget to read the small print on what you're actually in charge of.
now where were we?
Jun. 28th, 2004 01:41 pmNow that Georgie's gone home, things are returning to normal in Limerick.
I've said this before, but.
Jun. 28th, 2004 03:52 pmCory Doctorow works for the EFF, particularly, or maybe specifically, in the area of copyright issues. So how come he can't post related items to Boing Boing without coming across like a slashdot troll? Either this is how he argues for the EFF, which bodes ill for those of us affected by copyright issues (i.e. everybody), or he assumes that those who read Boing Boing are somehow not deserving of a more intelligent and reasoned post.
