A few days back, I saw an interview with Trent Reznor on MTV's Most Controversial Videos.

He looked like a NERD.

Really.

If you have Utah Saints' second album, trickly titled "Two", you may have heard the track where Michael Stipe is talking about a movie to some interviewer (whom I think is actually Dave Fanning, but that's another story) and wondered what the movie is that he's talking about. It's E la nave va, which appears to be "And the ship sails on".

Tomorrow, I talk to Sherry Fitzgerald about a mortgage.

Right, well, having a 1/4-paid car loan counts against me, since it's subtracting from my "spare cash", but on the other hand it's proof that I can pay off a loan, so it may count for me in mysterious ways. Paying too much rent counts for me for the same reason - proof of ability to pay, essentially. I now need to gather together lots of bits of paper to prove that I am not, in fact, fibbing wildly about my financials, and see if we have a family solicitor to handle the legal side of it. Then I get pre-approval on a mortgage, and go house shopping. Dear god, I think I'm actually going to go ahead with this, economy be damned.

Vodafone have been slapped by the UK advertising standards folks over a promo which included a boiled sweet, on the grounds that a child could (and apparently almost did) choke on the sweet. In their defense, Vodafone said that the sweet was wrapped in plastic. Yes, I can see how that might prevent the child from choking...

Nay, unintended benefits of the lack of a World Trade Centre: it's now that bit easier to make pre-1973 NY movies.
