I'm constantly amazed at my Bottomless Box O' Junk. "Damn,", I think, "this switch my bro brought over from the US has a dumbfuck PSU that isn't auto-voltage-switching like the more advanced kit they give us Europeans"[1]
Go digging in the box.
Pull out a 6.5 volt power supply, per requirements. In passing, skip over a 12 volt power supply, a 4.5 volt power supply, a 3 volt auto-voltage-switching power supply, and, I think, an 18 volt A/C power supply.
"Hey, all these spare video/network/random frobbery cards have bar codes on them. Wouldn't it be insanely geeky to scan the codes, and, uh, do something with them?"
Go digging in the box.
Bar code scanner.
I kid you not.
And people ask me why I don't throw stuff out.
[1] This is bait, obviously.
