If you can figure out which switches will make XML::Simple do this automatically, please tell me, as the documentation consists of a terse statement of purpose for each option followed by a short example, neither of which is getting me around this problem.

Which is, obviously, to collapse an XML element <foo></foo> to its compressed form, <foo />.

can we have less of the extremes and more of the middle ground?

I scoffed at reports of various incidents which hastily insisted that "no terrorism was involved", but right now I'm looking at a MSN headline which says, "Bali bombings: terrorists might be involved". Fer cryin' out loud, they've found at least 4 unexploded bombs in addition to which there were 4 near-simultaneous explosions in a variety of locations. What's the "might" about?
