Dido, you COW.

White Flag reflects a state of mind I'm more familiar with than I'd like to be. And it's not subtle, either. I only looked up the lyrics because MTV just played a making-of for the song's video, and Dido's comment on what the song was about (duh, did anyone need help with that?) struck a note of familiarity.

Every time I visit my folks' place, I collect a few bits and pieces of stuff I've left there just in case Mom goes on one of her cleaning sprees and tosses it out. Bar the stuff in the attic, which is implicitly safe, I'm down to one drawer of bits, which I went through this time around. Here's a list of some of the things I found, mostly dating back to 1992-1995:

• a ticket for U2 in Wembley, 20 aug 93
• an assortment of photobooth pictures, including the ones that yielded my 1992 B1 visa pic
• a london transport photo id card
• a Cadbury's Caramel wrapper, best before 19 apr 94. I have no idea what this is about.
• a tracing
• a christmas card in german
• an unsent postcard crammed with writing
• a receipt from a hotel in Kinsale
• half a ticket from a company christmas party
• a cassette inlay
• a lapel sticker for the Limerick AIDS Alliance
• a Hard Rock Cafe cocktails menu (in English; I have a Swedish one somewhere as well, I think)
• a photocopy of my hand, with a speech bubble reading in part, "HELP! I'm trapped in a fax machine in London!"
