I love the smell of schaedenfreude in the morning

What happens if you print your bank details in a national newspaper? Also, I am amused to note that last year's much-publicised loss of UK citizen data happened while said data was en route to The National Audit Office. As [livejournal.com profile] jwz said not too long ago, "The universe tends towards maximum irony. Don't push it."

I find Jeremy Clarkson inherently amusing, for whatever reason. Drives fast cars for a living, writes epic odes to ladies' stockings in the newspaper, and now this silly stunt. Seems like the kind of guy you'd like to sit down and have a few beers with.

Well, gah.
I think that Clarkson book ["The World According to Clarkson"] was the one that actually put me off Clarkson. I don't generally see his newspaper columns, so the only exposure I had to the man was through watching Top Gear, where he's doing something interesting and entertaining and the fact that he's an insufferable jingoistic knobhead doesn't really get in the way - in some cases it even helps. However, the book was, well, too much concentrated Clarkson in one place. I don't much care if he's really like that or if he's just trying to get people annoyed, the end result is the same for me. I've even gotten tired of Top Gear lately, having not seen a recent episode in a long, long time (caught a few reruns over Christmas, but you'll get that)
