I only just got here

and I already 0wn3d one of the Irish bars. Go me.

(note that I usually avoid Irish bars like the plague they are, with very few exceptions, but I was stumped for somewhere I actually wanted to spend time drinking)

As a mechanism for cultual imperialism, I can think of far worse things than the Irish-bar-in-a-shipping-box. At least, you're not holding guns to our heads and making us memorize Finnegan's Wake.

Yeah! Where is "here"? You didn't sneak into the bay area without checking to see if my guestroom needed warming, did you?

Why are /Irish/ bars so popular. I mean, I never heard of anybody opening an Icelandic bar anywhere outside Iceland. (Although ... the is a Polish bar in Dublin.)

Passive agressive imperialism.

We've taken over the world without even trying.

A colleague has a story of being stuck in Heilongjiang (extreme north China, nearest big city is Vladivostok) one winter, when he stumbled over an Irish bar complete with actual Irish musicians and decent Guinness (as decent as that Dublin swill ever gets anyway). -22°C outside and a Dublin pub inside.

I don't think you can go to any Asian city without Oirish pubs in yer face. There's at least 4 here in Hong Kong.

Aric, one of our crew here in Boston, drank Guinness in an Irish Bar in Ulan Bator last year.
