I'm sure it happens elsewhere and yes it is funny. Wouldn't you love to see a car park accessible only by steps like the Spanish Steps in Rome. There'd be a whopping great outcry. Bicyclists you see don't pay road tax. though I'm sure it's coming.

Reminds me of the gallery of unfortunate bike paths some Brit has online. The classic is the marked bike path with a phone booth in the way. Not entirely convinced it's a pshop. Even around here, the official bike lanes will terminate on approaches to lighted intersections, apparently presuming that bicycles can dematerialize and rematerialize while passing through (in reality, they can only dematerialize inconvertably).
