It appears that while the Sony NW-S23 is "splash-resistant" or thereabouts, it's not exactly impervious to a pint of tea in its general vicinity (this would be last weekend's spillage). I'm sure I got it out of the way in time, but apparently not. I've popped it open but there's no visible damage, and it still works as a USB key, but it ain't playing music and the LCD display is in christmas-tree mode. The worst of it is that this isn't even a year old and it's a present from my eldest brother. waidesworld, not a word! I'm torn between buying a replacement and using the same cash to buy something better like a Nano or a Muvo or what not.

Is it under warranty? They don't have to know that the failure is tea-induced...

It may well be, but it was purchased in the US as a gift so I have no proof of purchase and the originating store is somewhere in Boston.

But I am sure I could dig up the receipt, since your older brother faked the gift and still owes me the money!!! I put it on CC and bought it from Sony so we may have a better chance than the old $7 a hour numbnuts store employee. I will email you details and see where we go....

A curious thing. I reassembled it to take it to the Sony shop, then decided to give it one last go, and lo, it worked.
