what lj really needs is...

...scoring. Like the old t.b voting system (which I was hoping to resurrect, but that's a different story). That way, I can release the pent-up pressure from reading dorky followups by rating them "-57, Can't find own ass with both hands, a map, a friend, and a copy of Gray's Anatomy".

A fair comment. I can't say it's a genuine wish to have a public scorefile (akin to the old t.b voting system) for lj, although a personal scoring facility would be nice - the ability to simply disregard people who IMHO have never contributed anything worthwhile to any of the threads I've read. And I don't see this as a simple schoolyard "you're not in my gang"[1] thing, either. As a reasonable approximation of an adult, I feel I should be able to pick and choose who I pay attention to, particularly in my recreational time.

[1] It always was my gang. I don't ever recall wanting to be in someone else's gang in school. I'm sure this explains a lot.
