that's very similar to my train of thought after (and while) seeing ep. I. "lucas had twenty YEARS to work on this plot and all he could come up with were hacknied stereotypes and jar-jar binks? can't he afford to hire a screenwriter?"

so, this week is it de rigeur to criticize lucas, or are they going to try to take my geek card away for blasphemy?

I dunno, but I'm keeping a good grip on my poetic license by insisting it's not the plot (which, y'know, I was okay with), but the script...

As long as we can let it go after a week and not seethe for years about how revealing himself for the talentless money-grubbing hack he apparently really was casts all our childhood memories with new horrific meaning, I have no problem with others ranting.
