If you're missing your irregular-but-frequent doses of waider you can always sign up to the rss feed of my geek diary at waider_geeks. It tends to revolve around what I'm hacking on, with occasional mentions of movies and Forumla 1.
Oh, I don't really mind either of those. I'm not too pushed about who's actually reading it, nor am I liable to ever actually pay attention to any comments on the feed - the diary has been running on my site since August 2000 and the only feedback it's ever garnered is the odd email every few months.
I like having comment archives - one of the reasons I switched to MT in the first place was that my account got haxxored and a bunch of entries flat out got deleted and they wouldn't restore them for me. My then-reconstructed journal had no comments on about three months worth of entries.

Do you know if there's any way to check how many people are subscribed to an lj feed?

also. trying to stop people from commenting on livejournal because entries are not persistent is ANNOYING.
