This is the part that I like:

86% of Irish people believe they lead a healthy lifestyle, compared with the EU average of 80%

Delusion or healthy optimism?

Delusion. Hands down. There's not a single healthy person in the country, and our Minister For Health is doing his damnedest to keep it that way (granting premium increases to the state-regulated insurer, closing facilities, etc.)

Apparently I should have made you drink more when you visited. ;)

Only 12% of Italians? What's up with that? I guess the "glass of wine with dinner" thing is a myth.

Or maybe... they think it doesn't count!

Funny thing about these surveys, which I may have previously expounded on, is that it all depends on the framing. Ireland is variously top and bottom of the drinking leagues, and the best explanation I've heard for that so far is that we're top in terms of stuff like this - regular drinkers, or drinkers who have more than X pints, or whatever, but 20% of the population is teetotal which pushes the Gross Drinking Product, to coin a phrase, down somewhat.
