Office laptop just had a severe disk crash. Unfortunately, office laptop is also my main computing toy. Fortunately, I have a backup of all of my home directory from April 22nd, and I updated my website last night so what's on the site is pretty much what's on my harddrive. There's a few days of email missing there, though. The harddrive is currently sitting in the freezer so I can attempt a last-gasp recovery once I've made room for it in another box.

I'm hating computers right now.

Mystical hard-drive recovery techniques. Sometimes, just sometimes, sitting the thing in a freezer for a while will give you enough of a working window to get the files you really, really have to recover.

In my case, I'm not hopeful.
