double standards

negotiating with terrorists is a tricky business at best, especially when on one hand everyone acknowledges that Sinn Féin is the political wing of the IRA in all but its own eyes, and on the other hand you have a Unionist politician dismissing out of hand a statement from Sinn Féin as "not [coming from] the IRA".

Now now, dave. You seem to have mistaken me for a supporter of a minority quasi-religious right-wing group who think it's okay to use force to achieve that which can't be had through negotiation, claim to speak for a bunch of folk who'd rather have nothing to do with them, and excuse everything they do with slogans like "patriotism" and "freedom".

Just in case you're missing the clue: "I am not in favour of you" != "I am in favour of your opponents" despite what Rudy and the like might suggest.
