Are you kidding? Was the actual equation 200 - 4 or something else?

I do not jest. For some reason to do with the register being new-fangled, they had to enter a transaction from earlier in the day, for which the total value was 200 euro, and for which 4 euro had been registered (I think possibly someone entered 2 euro, hit ERROR, which didn't cancel the transaction, then did that again, and then abandoned the attempt). The whole conversation was highly entertaining to earwig on. But really, the bit that totally cracked me up is that they could, in all likelihood, have entered the sum (or difference, if you want to split hairs) on the register itself.
