I blew up an ISDN modem today.
A pop followed by the emission of magic smoke signalled its demise.
I'm looking at the uncased bits now; it looks like it was just a capacitor, 100μF/16V which would suggest (a) that I hooked up a power supply of the wrong polarity and (b) the losers who made this kit didn't see fit to protect against this sort of idiocy. Bah.
