once again: your page is BROKEN, and your spam is in my mailbox.

So a while back I posted about a bunch of people who'd taken my registration info and deemed it an implicit acceptance of their spam, and the unregister-from-this-junkmail-feed link came up 404 when I tried it. After a second or third mail I'd gotten fed up with them and emailed them, and received a reply to the effect that (a) I'd been removed from their list and (b) wow, thanks, we didn't know our unsubscribe page was broken.

So I was a little surprised to get another spam from them today, and slightly less surprised to note that the unsubscribe page is STILL broken. I emailed the guy who claimed to have sorted it out the last time, who apologised for "the mistake" and told me I'd been removed. Again. We shall see.

In the meantime, if calgoo.com are sending you spam and the unsub link still 404's, try replying to the email to complain.

Worst thing to do is recognize the existence of the spammers. They kno you are there, they will keep the shit comming.

Best thing you can do, filter them, and report them, even post their info, as well as any proxying info they use.

I'm sure you mean well, but if you're going to comment on my livejournal I'd expect you to either know me personally or do enough research before you post a comment that you don't look silly by posting something that makes it obvious that you haven't the slightest clue about me.

Take your own advice:
If you must know more about me, please feel free to read my journal. I feel that it is more important to know a person by what you think of them, not simply by what they think of themselves.

We are truly sorry

I can not get into detail about why the mistake was made, however I can say there has been personnel changes and the person who should be held accountable for this is not around to be held accountable for this.

I will contact you via email for a little more detail - hopefully we can work this out.

Also please note that this 'spam' is information you opted into by signing up for Calgoo and is simply information about updates to our program. As a registered user we feel that it would be important for you to know when the newest version is released in order to take full advantage of any updates.

Gosh, that was nice.

Let me quote the privacy policy (http://www.calgoo.com/legal/privacy.jsp):

all our products and service offerings are designed to be 'opt-in' and require your expressed consent to their use. We also believe that at anytime, you reserve the right to change your mind and can opt-out from any communication or interaction with our products and services except for messages about your Calgoo account.

There's no opt-in. As soon as I register, I'm subscribed to a list I didn't ask to be signed up to. And as of the original posting in this thread, there is no way for me to opt out - even direct communication with an actual person still resulted in me getting further mail. Since I didn't request it, and it is essentially commercial in nature, it looks pretty much like spam to me.

It seems "opt-in" is your default and there are no other options. I read the entire drivel and it also says that if you opt out which I believe is to "not opt-in no more" you won't get any more junkmail from them I guess they need to retype that one.
