well, that was reassuring (if tiring)

Just beat my previous 5k record by 4 seconds - my new record is 20:11.34. This is the first proper run I've done since the 10-miler; I'm not counting the roughly three-mile run I did to catch a bus (Watling Street to Parnell Street, about 25 minutes). So, yay!

updated to add: I was actually trying for a 20-minute 5k, and managed to do the first 2k in about 8 minutes, but unfortunately that's about as far as my ability to maintain that pace went. I did manage to pull back some time on the fourth kilometer, but the fifth one is a whole chunk of uphill and basically I couldn't quite make it. Still got that target to beat!

You know, the McMillan Running Calculator says that with proper training you should be able to run at 3:16:46 marathon.

I'm not saying; I'm just saying.

I'm skeptical. Plus, I'm still not convinced that running for 26 miles is a good idea. I'm having trouble enough convincing myself that running half that is a good idea.

Or he could fly to Boston in a little over five hours....

Jeez, you're getting whiny in your old age. Go harass some other sibling.
