rooting through the archives

I got fanmail for this:

Tellin' this loser he's a loser.

I'm looking for the other post where I taunted the same guy. He'd mailed my ISP to complain, except that I was sysadmin for the ISP in question so I got the complaint mail. Which fact I broadcast back to the group...

Aha, here we go. Actually, you need to read the full three-message thread to appreciate what a loon this guy was:

(cuidados. hay 'frames'.)

Tellin' everyone else this loser is a loser.

For some reason, on my friends list, your links are not displaying correctly in Chimera 0.6, though they display properly in IE 5.2.

Here is the problem: in IE, I see that you have link-text as follows: 'Tellin' everyone else this loser is a loser."

However, in Chimera, that text is not present; instead, the link text is the actual URL. The link is still underlined and still works when clicked on.

Most oddly of all, the (admittedly dynamically generated) page source is different in the two browsers. The link text in IE is what it's supposed to be; in Chimera, the link text recapitulates the URL.

I only noticed this because Chimera did not line break the second, longer URL, causing the entirety of my friends page to format with about a 30 inch column width.

Did you do anything wonky or unusual with these links, or is this just LJ's back end misbehaving?

Perhaps it's something to do with the fact that when I first posted it, I used the URLs sans HREF tags; on seeing that lj didn't wrap them, I redid them with HREF tags and text and all.
