I am told by an lgb activist from Belfast that the language of this reflects the two "communities" in Northern Ireland: the unionsts have marches while the nationalists have parades. For that reason, Balfast's gay pride moving-en-masse-through-the-streets-on-foot has been called the Pride Dander.
