advice for concert-goers

MCD offer the following advice for Marlay Park gigs:
DO: Note that the concert is an outdoor event and you should dress appropriately for the weather
DON'T: Bring umbrellas, [...] into the venue. these will be confiscated at the ticket barriers

Having been at a very crowded, tightly-packed outdoor event where it started raining and then seeing the carnage and mayhem ensue when almost all of these people tried to open umbrellas with no real space available for them... well, I heartily endorse this policy. There was a LOT of facial injury. And then, possibly not surprisingly, brawling.

I agree. I think baseball games or any other sporting events where the seating is tight should have a no umbrellas policy. They are painful you know and saying something about a small Asian womans heritage or lack of similar skills to driving doesn't get you too far either.

Curiously enough, there were plenty umbrellas in evidence at the gig. I guess it's just boilerplate text as opposed to an actual rule they follow.
