On account of how their whole project is based on drilling through the earth's crust to sample the mantle, and they've already poured a lot of money and had one failed expedition?

Ah. It was the sampling the mantle part that I didn't see in the Chikyu Hakken website. Yeah, they're probably pretty unhappy.
