On my one visit to the cliffs (back in October or November '98), there was a 40-50mph gale, with some interesting gusting and swirling effects. I think you've seen me poke my nose over steep drops once or twice over the years, and I was once thrown out of St Andrews Castle for climbing the outside of the keep, but you couldn't have paid me enough to go within 30 feet of that edge.
Despite that, there were people within six feet of the drop, and some of them were opening their arms and coats, as if to invite the wind to throw them down. Evolution in action...
