"Love Will Tear Us Apart" is about the only Joy Division song I will give any credit to (and I'll give it lots of credit, at that). The rest I find to be distressingly close to the only tape I have of a live performance of a band featuring me, viz. it sounds like four people who happen to be making music in proximity to each other as opposed to an actual cohesive band. And Ian Curtis', uh, "singing" doesn't help the impression.
I like Joy Division pretty well, and I like New Order even better, but I have to wonder if I might not have come to like Joy Division just much if they had gone on under the same name.
