well, that's just SPECIAL.

I have just over three hours from landing in Gatwick to departing from Heathrow. Or, I did have, before the flight to Gatwick was delayed by two hours. Now it looks like I'll be fishing for a standby from Heathrow as I watch my flight depart. Note to self: stop taking flights that require connections when there's a direct alternative available.

update: curiously, I can't find a direct KEF/DUB flight, despite the fact that I definitely saw Reykjavik on the departure boards in Dublin on my way out.

I think charter flights may not be listed on airport schedules.

You could check for oddities like flights to Shannon or Knock[1], which at least gets you in the right country. Or Belfast, from which there's a train to DUB. Or Schipohl, it's nice, clean, and efficient and everyone speaks English.

I've made a point recently of avoiding LHR whenever possible. Mind you, since most of my airmniles over the last five years have been Hong Kong to Brisbane or Melbourne, this hasn't exactly been difficult.

[1] Although how the heck you get from Knock to anywhere is beyond me. Feign a conversion and get some nuns to drive you home.
