The irony of the situation is that because I'm not employed, I've no commuting to do, and ergo no actual reason to own a car. It's been sitting in the same spot out front of the house since I dropped my folks off at the train station a couple of weeks back.
(But at the same time, we should weep while we may. My parents made a similar point on the day the mortgage was finally paid off. Now /that/ would be an occasion for woot!ing.)
