once again, Top Gear makes me laugh.

Jeremy Clarkson tells us that the number one best-selling "car" in the world is the Ford F150, of which 107 are sold per hour on average, exclusively in North America. It has, he points out, the same engine as the Ford GT, meaning that it'll beat a Porsche Boxter from a standing start (0-60MPH in 5.something). Which is all well and good, I suppose.

He then goes on to compare it unfavourably to the previous worst vehicle he ever drove, a Russian-made Jeep in Saigon.

Someone followed up to say that the F150 wouldn't out-drag a Boxter because of its different gearing, but evidently deleted the comment. All I can say is
  1. I couldn't care less; I am merely showing you what Clarkson thought was good about it, before he proceeded to shred it.
  2. Clarkson doesn't generally make this sort of claim without some actual fact to back him up. He makes hyperbolic comparisons, sure, but on basic motoring facts he tends to play it pretty straight.

The F150 Lightning can beat a Boxster. The base model F150 does 0-60 in 10 seconds. I don't know what the sales figures are on the Lightning, but most F150s are not Lightnings. I didn't say anything, because I didn't figure you cared, but yeah, they're definitely not pushing 107 Ford GT engines out the door every hour.

Yup, it was indeed a Lightning, now that you mention it.

Why would you buy something like this if all you wanted was a 0-60 machine, go buy a Lada in that case cause it seems that all you know about racing.
