I should just set up a cron job to repost my advice to the non-Irish on St. Patrick's Day every year around this time. Also, it appears I'm not alone in my seasonal ranting.

I suspect the guy who is not alone with you has either americanised the spelling of his surname for the benefit of his readership or has had it done to him by an editor at the paper/web site.

his site suggests the spelling is correct, yes, modulo the replacement of Ó with O'.
