breathe easy, drink more

I think I may wander to the King's this evening to check out our brand new smoking ban. For those of you only visiting the "IRELAND BANS SMOKING IN PUBS, DEATH OF CULTURE PREDICTED" coverage, the ban actually covers smoking in the workplace. And, as you may have noticed, some people actually work in pubs.

We had this conversation, though, and I still think it's lame to impose it on pub owners who don't want it, if they reasonably feel it will be a detriment to their business. And it's not like I'm King Randroid. And I feel weird commenting, since I smoke, and like bars.

See my latest post on the topic... I don't agree with the general notion of a nanny state, but on the other hand I do agree with the right of a person to work in an environment that doesn't damage their health. And that includes barstaff. I like bars (duh!) and generally don't object to smoking, but I can't say I'm objecting to the lack of it either.
