Hmm. I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I'm disgusted by some of the high-fat, high-salt, high-sugar, highly artificial crap that is marketed as food these days. On the other hand, I'm also disgusted by the idea that people have no personal responsibility for their eating and exercise habits, and it is someone else's fault if they turn into bloaters who raise the attention of Greenpeace every time they go near a beach...
That said, introducing a law to prevent lawsuits seems to be unnecessary, at best. If the lawsuits are frivolous, they will probably fail (only plausible reason I can think of for the suits succeeding would relate to aggressive marketing campaigns which made false claims about the products in question). Thus, precedents will be established and further suits will be less likely to succeed. Meanwhile, the fat plaintiffs will face a huge legal bill and might have to eat less to pay their debts.
