Miramax send a C&D in order to force someone to remove links to a site which used sell some film they own the rights to. As explained by a spokesthing for Miramax:

"By removing these links, he's making it more difficult for people to purchase these films, thereby allowing us to protect our interest in these properties."

Er. Ok. And here was I thinking that the point was to make it easier for people to purchase these films.
