overt geekiness (no!)

I figured it I'd found your house when Kismet said, "hey! wireless network!"
- me, to Bob, on Friday.

Predictably, much hilarity ensued.

Ben and I have been wardriving, but a depressing majority of the local wireless nets are called either "linksys" or "default". Lots are wide, wide open.

Mine is called akanistha.

I'm not yet confident enough in my wireless network to change its name from "test".

It's been about a year since I set it up.

I leave it wide open because I'm lonely.

My network, such as it is, is open and named "wireless". Bob's isn't much better: open and named "WLAN". I'm currently investigating how to enable encryption on the cards, complicated by the fact that I'm pretty much writing the new features of the driver myself.

Kismet is a nifty scanner. I couldn't find my GPS toy to hook up to it, but the speech synth stuff is WAY cool.

Don't bother, it can be broken in under 10 minutes, if anyone cares at all.

Oh, I'm aware WEP is flawed. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't figure out how to implement it in the drivers I'm playing with.
