Johnny Mnemonic was on BBC1 last night. For all that's been said against it, I like it. I like that it kinda fits my view of Gibson's world, and I love the cyberspace routine - it's probably the best match I've seen for what Gibson described in his books, combined with a real-world connection that doesn't appear in the books - Johnny interacts with the Matrix using data gloves and a wrap-around visor, rather than 'trodes and a deck. That tiny detail makes it so much more workable. Anyway, for other reasons I happened to be looking at Gibson's site, and lo and behold he's talking about Johnny Mnemonic and the fact that the film I saw is not the film he wrote. Cool. Now I want to see the Japanese release.
