The stuff this article calls 'cannabis' is grown as a plant, plucked, dried, crumbled, put in baggies, and sold.
The stuff this article calls 'tobacco' is grown as a plant, plucked, dried, fermented, smoked, shredded, soaked in over 100 compounds (including acids and a large number of flavorants), moistened with adhesives, wrapped in paper, attached to a plastic filter, and sold.
It's just a hunch, but I suspect the heavy processing that this type of 'tobacco' undergoes makes it a lot more dangerous with respect to its cancer and heart disease risk. Even the heaviest cigar and pipe smokers don't come near equalling the cancer risk increase caused by processed cigarettes.
As usual, politics and science maintain their strict divorce.
