Actually, [subject] was the working title of "The Eagle's Shadow: Why America Fascinates and Infuriates the World". There's an interview with the author on Salon. Looks like it might be well worth a read (the book, not necessarily the review - in true Salon fashion, they've managed to squeeze in at least one use of the word "sex").
