Wow.
So, last night on BBC World (well, I don't know where the clip originated, but I saw it on BBC World), Gerry Adams said unequivocally and plainly that he wanted to see the disbandment of the IRA.
Whatever the current problems in the political power structure, whatever the current level of inter/intraparamilitary activity and, yes, violence, I think this one thing shows that Northern Ireland has taken huge steps towards being a better place. If Adams had even hinted at this sort of statement five or six years back, he'd be dead by now.
