continued Flash irritation

Yay. There's a new version of Flash. Boo, it hangs when I take Mozilla to http://www.doonesbury.com/strip/dailydose/ and click on "previous date". So much for progress. Even the old version didn't do this once I'd allowed it (or Mozilla, I don't know which) to invoke esd despite the fact that I tend to use a perfectly good artsd for my audio serving pleasure.

I read this as invoking sed. I think Flash Player should be built around sed.

Gnee.

There is a GPL flash player (http://www.swift-tools.net/Flash/), but alas it hasn't been updated in years and is several generations out of date. It may be that the license under which Macromedia releases specifications for Flash is no longer compatible with its existence, I'm not sure.

It might also be following the standard open source project lifecycle:
  1. announcement of project
  2. announcement of project with new, non-infringing name
  3. announcement of project mailing lists
  4. announcement that project mailing lists are now member-posting-only to avoid spam
  5. announcement of v0.1
  6. migration of project to sourceforge
  7. call for developers
  8. code fork
  9. announcement of competing versions 0.2
  10. massive flame war
  11. project stagnation
